Used Boat Sale & Demo Day

MIKCo’s end-of-season sale on used fleet boats. Saturday, September 11 from 9 – 3 on our beach on Peaks. Don’t miss your chance to try and buy!
MIKCo is trimming its fleet boats. On Saturday, September 11th we will have all of our used sea kayaks, plus our full NDK Demo fleet for interested new boat buyers, on Kayak Beach, 100 yards North of the ferry landing on Peaks, or just below Hannigan’s Market/Cockeyed Gull/LPA gas station. If you come dressed to paddle, we will have basic skirts and paddles, along with our set of demo Celtic CK paddles for you to use while demoing.
Purchase Terms: Cash, check, trades. CC’s accepted too but we’ll need to add .03% to your ticket, unless you’re buying a new boat.
Offers: Offers considered. Email tom@maineislandkayak.com with the specific boat.
No Sales Tax: For out of state purchasers, there is no sales tax with your signed State of Maine form exempting sales to out-of-staters, or where you otherwise indicate that your purchased boat will be moved out of Maine.
Demos: If you arrive with your paddling gear, and agree to sign our Waiver & Release, then you can demo as many boats as you choose during that day. We’d just ask that you keep your demo on the shorter side if there are others wanting to try that same boat.
Getting Boat Back to Portland: Paddle it home? OR You can leave your new purchase with MIKCo until there’s a better time for us to ship it over to you, OR You can ship it as freight on one of the next ferries (deck hands load and unload) and retrieve it in Portland. If you have kayak wheels, bring them along.
Pre-September 11th Used Boat Purchases: We are now going through each used boat, cleaning it up, treating the hatches, fixing the little things, so we cannot very easily provide on-water demos for used boats before our sale date, Saturday 9/11. Pre-Sept 11th, if you know a particular boat you’d like, and simply need to sit in it and decide to buy/or not, AND can make an appointment with Tom or Liz, THEN pre-Sept 11th used boat sales are possible, but without on-water demos.
New Boat Demos and Purchases: HOWEVER, we are continuing with new boat sales by appointment, as always, and our dedicated NDK Demo fleet is ready for you to demo on any day we can schedule, and at this annual Used Boat sale.
